COVID-19
PARENT COMMUNICATION PROTOCOLS
St. Joseph School understands that parents are concerned about the possibility of a COVID-19 exposure at school this school year. The school is taking numerous health and safety precautions to protect our students and keep them well.
In the event that a student(s) does become sick or is possibly exposed to COVID-19 at school, we have developed clear-cut procedures that we will follow in communicating information to parents.
These are in accordance with the Diocese of Little Rock, and are designed to operate in the best interest of student/staff privacy (HIPAA/FERPA) and with the goal of understanding parents' concerns for their children.
St. Joseph School Communication Procedures for COVID-19 Exposures:
1. If a student tests positive for COVID-19, the school's Point of Contact (POC) will personally call and notify the parents of any student who is a probable close contact* with the positive case. (A probable close contact is anyone who was within 3 feet for 15 cumulative minutes or longer within a 24 hour period of the person testing positive, during the infectious period.)
2. In the event there is a positive case of COVID-19 inside St. Joseph School, parents of all students will be notified through email. The message will be general in nature and will inform parents that there has been a positive case of COVID-19 within St. Joseph School school. The message will remind parents that any students who were probable close contacts* of that case have been notified personally by the school's POC.
3. Neither the school nor the POC is able to release any additional information regarding positive cases of COVID-19.
*Probable Close Contacts who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 will not be required to quarantine.
